The new website with hiscores, accounts and a bestiary, and faster logins
Faster Logins and a New Connection
Logging in
- Logging in takes about a quarter of a second, where it took about half a second.
- If you type a wrong name or password, the game now tells you "Invalid username or password". Before, it closed without a word.
Your client and the server
- Your game client and the server now talk in a new, stricter message format. If a message arrives broken, the connection closes and says why.
- Your client stops to clear memory less often in busy places. At Varrock west bank with 200 players around, it clears memory every 6.5 seconds, where it did every 2.4 seconds.
Fixes
- You can light fires again. You can also use "Light" on logs lying on the ground.
- Bank on a banker opens your bank, and Trade on a shopkeeper opens the shop. Before, some of them said "Nothing interesting happens".
- Every shopkeeper now runs their town's shop. This covers the general stores of Varrock, Al Kharid, Edgeville, Rimmington, Karamja and Khazard, the Combat Training Camp's armoury and the Varrock swordshop.
- A ban or a mute now works on a player who is logged out, and ::unban lifts a ban.
- 450 items that lay twice on the same spot now lie there once. One example is the coins in the Varrock sewers.
Developers can now change game data while the server runs, with ::reload. You see the new values on your next action, with no restart.
Item Weights and Prices
17,271 items have had their weights refined. For example, a Rune platebody now weighs 9.979 kg, where it weighed 9.9 kg.
5,891 items now have a Grand Exchange price, where 5,212 had one. Your inventory and bank colour each stack by that price.
Bots
- Bots now find their way between 26,916 places, where they had 7,150. Their routes now include 6 ships.
- Two bots standing near you may start a conversation and take turns talking.
- Bots that like to show off can wear the rare items they own, such as party hats, Halloween masks, Santa hats and banners.
- Bots with a full bank now change into the gear their activity needs.
- A bot whose bank is full now keeps its most valuable items in the bank and drops the cheapest ones on the ground.
The Website
The new Q-pea website has the look of the 2005 site. It shows the game world, the hiscores and your account.
World map
- The world map shows every player, bot, NPC and item on the ground where it stands. Doors, trees and rocks show whether they are open, cut or mined.
- You can switch between plain and detailed map pictures, and between floors.
- The map is on the home page, and the World Map page fills your window.
- The home page shows how many players are online.
Hiscores
The hiscores rank every account in Overall and in each skill, Farming too. They change every time the game saves. You can show players or bots, search by rank or name, and click a name to see all of that account's ranks.
Accounts
- You can create an account on the website and log straight into the game with it.
- An account you made in the game logs in on the website too.
- On the account pages you can change your password, fill in your character details and set recovery questions.
- Your password works however you type its capitals, on the website and in the game. Before, a password made on the website with a capital letter did not log into the game.
- Saving your character details works. Before, the page said the server did not answer.
- A name that the game reads the same as a taken name is taken on the website too. For example, "lee_ann" is taken when "lee ann" exists.
- The login page and the last page of account creation are laid out as on the 2005 site.
Bestiary and items
- The bestiary lists every creature you can meet in the game, 2,932 of them, bosses such as Vorkath and Zulrah too. Each one walks in its picture.
- An entry shows where you find the creature, its levels, how it fights and what it drops.
- Drops show as an inventory: each item's picture with its amount and its chance in percent, coloured by how rare it is.
- The 73 creatures of the 2005 bestiary keep their old descriptions.
- A new item list in the manual shows all 12,588 items in the game. For example, the Abyssal whip shows its bonuses, its price and the Abyssal demon that drops it.
- Item and creature pictures are drawn as the game draws them in HD. Capes show their whole emblem, and items with moving textures, such as the Fire cape, move on the page.
The manual
- Each of the 21 skills has its own page, with tables from the game of what you train at each level. For example, Woodcutting lists 40 trees and 8 axes.
- Prayers and spells show their pictures from the game.
- The combat pages show how your combat level is worked out, 24 weapon types, 17 special attacks, 58 prayers and 40 combat spells.
- The Getting started and controls pages describe this game: you start in Varrock Marketplace with your starter kit.
- The tales and letters in the Library of Varrock read whole again. The creatures and items they name link to their pages.
- The skill, combat, controls and features pages show pictures from the game in HD.
- The screenshot gallery shows 57 pictures from the game. 14 of them show newer lands, such as Great Kourend, Prifddinas and Lunar Isle.
The Mini Games pages show the Party Room, the Abyss, the crystal chest, the dwarf multicannon, the gnome gliders and ship travel, with pictures from the game.
The guides and the FAQ say that bots and macros are allowed and that nothing costs money. Nobody running Q-pea will ever email you or ask for your password.
