The Gypsy's Vision

Aris, the gypsy of Varrock square, told me this tale over a cup of tea she would not let me pay for. She tells it to any outlander who sits with her. I have written it down as she told it. Reldo.

The crystal ball

Aris is the same gypsy who once sent an outlander to slay the demon Delrith with the sword Silverlight. She reads fortunes for a coin. One evening in the Golden Era, her crystal ball showed her a fortune nobody had paid for.

She saw a curse on the building of houses. A builder called Cursed You would master the craft in five days, and throw a party in his new house to celebrate. The curse would leave the house with his guests.

The massacre that never was

She saw what came next. The guests walked out into Rimmington, and then to Falador, and then to Edgeville, striking outlanders in places where no blow should ever land. Falador would run red in the year 169.

The ball showed her one more thing, and she will only say it the way she saw it. The curse would drag its victims down into "a durial in 321".

The spell

Aris cast a spell that night. It kept Construction, the heir of Carpentry, from becoming a craft the outlanders could learn. No houses were built, no party was thrown, and the massacre did not happen.

The plaque in Falador Park stays blank. An outlander named Durial321 walks Falador with a mark on his hand he cannot explain, and he feels the weight of what he did not do. Cursed You waits near Rimmington, drawing plans for houses that never stand.

Saradomin calls the spell meddling. Zamorak calls it a waste of a perfectly good massacre. Guthix has said nothing, which Aris takes as thanks. Reldo.
