Reldo writes:
Sir Prysin keeps the old war records of the palace, and lent me this account of a battle from the late Fourth Age. I question some of its numbers. I do not question his love for it.

The Battle of Edgeville - by Sir Prysin

Long ago, when the barbarians came down from the north, the king of Misthalin feared for his borders. He marched his soldiers to Edgeville, the last town before the wild lands. The barbarians struck on the very same day.

Vjurek the Strong led them, a man who could lift a cart with one arm, or so the barbarians claim. Sir Wysten led ours. The fighting went on for hours, and half of Edgeville burned before it ended.

Sir Wysten held the bridge. When Vjurek's men broke against it a third time, they turned for home, and the invasion broke with them. The barbarians did not come south in force again.

I will admit, as a knight should, that the barbarians fought well. They still do. Ask them about Edgeville and they will tell you they let us win.
